We are well aware that the needs of each student differ greatly. We therefore take this into account when we design each course, ensuring that we offer the right balance of language practice, target vocabulary and skills for the business environment. The amount of class contact time, course content, level of English and the degree of requested free time can all vary from one person to another. Whatever sector of the industry you are in, we will ensure that we include the right elements for each course. From drug discovery to toxicology, clinical development to manufacturing, regulatory affairs to sales and marketing, we will only incorporate those areas you require from the development of a medicine from laboratory to patient.
Learning and progress are achieved through a variety of teaching techniques and classroom activities. Target vocabulary is presented and practised through all four skills. Speaking can involve fluency work, role play, giving presentations, interviewing and negotiating, depending on the needs of the individual. We insist on teaching modern natural usage and idiom in order to bring maximum benefit to your class time. Listening and reading are improved using a variety of authentic texts, CDs and Internet-based lessons. Fast progress with formal emails and report writing can also be made on our courses. In addition, we aim to include some contact time with a former senior director of Pfizer, whether it be an informal lunch, or class contact for input, extended practice, presentation, and consolidation of new language. We believe that this additional course component with someone who has in-depth knowledge of the pharmaceutical industry sets us apart from other schools.
